Our long awaited holiday to Ibiza

Our long awaited holiday to Ibiza

This month we finally have our long awaited holiday to Ibiza. In this post I will tell you more about our trip.

Our long awaited holiday to Ibiza

This is actually our first long holiday together. During the summer months we have only a few weekends away and not a proper long holiday. By september we really could not wait any longer and we chose to go to Ibiza in october. Because of the fall holiday we travel a week earlier to avoid the crowd.

Ryanair

Our long awaited holiday to Ibiza

Our journey starts at tuesday. We drive to Eindhoven and park our car. At Eindhoven airport we check-in and get our boarding pass and decide to have a quick bite before our plane departs. By the time we arrive at the security I check my phone and I read a text by Ryanair that our flight is cancelled! We are like, is this a joke? One hour before departure, really? We have to go to the Information desk at the airport to check what the options are. Actually there are not a lot of options, they don’t have any flights to Ibiza. So we go for an alternative route. We book a new ticket with Transavia and fly to Barcelona at 18.30 pm. In the evening we book a hotel there, because the connecting flight to Ibiza is on the following morning. We have a very short night sleep, because the flight departs at 6.30 am. Luckily this time the flight departs with no trouble and we arrive in Ibiza at last! After picking up our rental car, we drive to our hotel and finally check-in at 9.30 am at wednesday. So Ryanair, thanks for screwing up our holiday, we will not fly again with you!

AxelBeach Ibiza Spa & Beach Club

We stay at the AxelBeach Ibiza Spa & Beach Club apartment. The apartment is quite big, it has a large living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a balcony. The reception was rather nice and gave us an upgrade with a balcony with sea view. Altogether the apartment has a space of 85m2, which is rather nice.

At wednesday we still need to recover from our exhausting flight, so we don’t have a lot of activities. The weather of Ibiza is rather nice. Every day it is around 26°C, it is sunny during our whole trip. In the evening we decide to take a walk at the beach along San Antonio bay. In the end we arrive at the Café del Mar. I always have been a fan of their music and it is amazing to be there for the first time. We enjoy the music and our first beautiful sunset in Ibiza.

Isla de es Vedrà

Isla de es Vedrà

On thursday we decide to visit Isla de es Vedrà. This is an island which is located at the south-west side of Ibiza. We park our car and hike out to the large opening area where we can see the beautiful Es Vedrà. The view of the island and the beautiful ocean is breathtaking. There is actually another view point, you can hike upwards to the pirate tower. We decide not to hike to the pirate tower because of the heat.

Ibiza Old Town, Dalt Vila

Ibiza Old Town, Dalt Vila

On friday we decide to go to the Ibiza Old Town. It is a very sunny day, so the hike upwards takes quite a bit of energy. However the view upstairs is very lovely. In the Ibiza Old Town, there are a lot of small streets. We take a break to enjoy some yummy watermelon juice. There are some shops in this part of Ibiza, but we don’t need anything really. Plus we only have hand luggage, so we can’t bring back much.

Sunsets and food

What I love about Ibiza is that there are so many beaches, each unique and beautiful in their own way. During our holiday we see a lot of beautiful sunsets, each of them are breathtaking. In the evening we try out different restaurants. Our favorite restaurant is the Curry Palace in Sant Antoni de Portmany. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! We also go to the Bambuddha, which is an asian fusion restaurant.

Korean Pork at Bambuddha

The ambiance is rather nice with a beautiful interior. However the prices on the menu are shockingly high. I order the Korean Pork and the food is okay, but it is quite expensive. So I would suggest you to go there for a beautiful atmosphere, but be prepared that the portions are quite small for what you pay. You also need to reserve a table beforehand.

Missing you already

Our long awaited holiday to Ibiza

For the following days of our holiday we just relax a bit and visit some places like Sant Miguel. We actually want to see Es Portixol, which is a small cove. But unfortunately the path is not clear and in the end we could not find Es Portixol, which is a shame. Note to self – bring proper hiking shoes the next time.

I really enjoy my holiday to Ibiza, unfortunately it is always too short! I am missing you already! Do you like Ibiza? Leave a comment below!
